Leaflet: Paju Bookcity - Publishing Industrial complex in Korea
Talking about a new approach to design in the way Paju Book City was designed Yi Ki-ung refers to the usefulness of a “Great Contract’:
‘It was also not an easy task to persuade tenants who were not accustomed to such a process to follow the plans. Through this process, a great contract was made between the tenants and the architects. In the contract, both parties promised to suppress subjective architectural ideas and to do their best to successfully build a city that harmoniously blends healthy publishing and architectural cultures. The contract became a norm in all architectural activities within the Bookcity. Through this great contract, the city’s objectives are being realised one by one.’
As we’re currently considering our project contracts, this leapt out at me. Here it is use as a way bridging the gap between architects and publishers when entering a new way of designing.
